TOWBARS RATED FOR HOW TROOPYS ACTUALLY TOW

TROOPYS TOW MORE THAN YOU THINK

Plenty of Troopy owners ignore the tow rating because they assume the vehicle is just an off-road wagon. In reality the 78 is rated to tow 3500kg with the right gear. Caravans, boats, campers, work trailers, horse floats. A heavy-duty tag tow bar is the upgrade that turns the Troopy from a wagon into a wagon-and-towing setup. Chassis-bolted, properly engineered, rated for the full towing capacity rather than the lightweight ball point most factory setups carry. If you tow anything substantial, the right tow bar is non-negotiable.

HEAVY-GAUGE STEEL WITH STANDARD RECEIVER

The tow bars in this range are built from heavy-gauge steel with a powder-coated black finish that survives mud, salt, and stone strikes for years. Each bar bolts directly to the Troopy chassis rails using factory mounting points and rated hardware. No welding, no drilling. The standard 50mm square hitch receiver accepts every common Australian trailer hitch, plus a wide range of accessories like recovery shackle mounts, bike racks, and load-carrying mounts. Trailer wiring harness options pair with the bar for trailer brake controllers and lights.

HZJ78, VDJ78, AND GDJ78 FITMENT

This collection covers tow bars for the HZJ78 (1999 to 2007), VDJ78 V8 (2007 to 2023), and GDJ78 2.8L facelift (2024 onward). The rear chassis mounting points were updated with the GDJ facelift, so 2024-onward bars are platform-specific. Each listing confirms exact year fitment, rated capacity, and supplied hardware. Many of the same towbars also suit the 79 Series single cab and dual cab of the same era, because the rear chassis design is shared across the 70 family.
